Rev. Rob Schenck on the Christian Response to the Orlando Mass Shooting, The Largest in U.S. History

Every shooting is a tragedy and every life lost is of supreme value, yet, this enormous loss of life is understandably overwhelming. We need to pray for the survivors of the killed and for the injured, for a community deeply shaken, and for all of us as we absorb the terrible implications of this terrorist act. Every decent person is shocked, saddened, and will be angered by this extreme violation of the sanctity of life and of the safety and security of our communities and of our country. In the wake of this, we must ask God to help us be at our best when the temptation is to be otherwise. May the One that is Comforter, Counselor, and Mighty God be with us all. In the name of Jesus the Good Shepherd.
In times of enormous tragedy and fear, people need pastors more than ever. Jesus is the model as the Good Shepherd. We all need to pray for pastors in the Orlando area as they care for their own people and for all those hurting and afraid. Thank God for shepherds of souls. They are instruments of healing, hope, and restoration to those directly affected and to all. Amen.
